Hans Cullmann 18 karat yellow gold pendant choker necklace featuring a medieval coin from the Byzantine (Eastern Roman) Empire. German, Contemporary. Necklace is contemporary. Coin is bezel set in 18 karat (marked 750) gold pendant with two crosses in set with 2 small round brilliant cut white diamonds and 16 round cut yellow sapphires. Pendant measures 50 mm by 29 mm. Strung with five strands of natural blue faceted aquamarines. Necklace measures 13″ (choker length). Good wearable condition. Total weight: 74.6 grams / 47.9 dwt.
Coin is probably ca. 11th – 12th century, and depicts Jesus Christ as the Emperor. The reverse is partially visible in the bezel setting, but is not quite legible. Coin has some wear to surface, but is still clearly a medieval coin. Irregular shape, 25 mm by 20 mm.
