Buffalo Pottery Deldare Ware humidor with a poem and hand painted details on it. American, 1909. Stamp at bottom dated 1909. Body of humidor shows a sailor and other man. The sailor sits and begs for tobacco. The inscription in poetic meter describes the sailor’s plight, and cautions the viewer to save their money to always have enough tobacco in their humidor. Banded rope motif. The lid has sailor’s faces painted onto it and a sailing ship on the top knob. Bottom mark seems to have gotten marred under glaze. 7 3/4″ tall by about 5″ wide.
